DIY Decor: Glittered Hurricanes

Glitter Hurricane Centerpieces
My parents hosted my brother's Rehearsal Dinner at the Chart House on Friday night and asked me to come up with centerpieces for the occasion.  With everything going on at once (Rehearsal, Wedding and my Dad's 60th Party on the same weekend!), I wanted to keep it simple.  This is what I came up with.  (don't mind the waiter's finger prints.  clearly he man-handled these!  Grrr!)

Materials
5- Hurricanes from Michael's Craft Store
5- vanilla pillar candles
4 lbs- filberts from a local Farmers Market
1- bottle Martha Stewart Glitter in Smoky Quartz
5- mum clips
1- package wedding flower confetti

I sprayed adhesive on the bare candles and then shook them around in the glitter using a zip-lock bag.  The drying time is about 30 minutes but you can touch them lightly to move them around.  I equally divided the filberts into the five hurricanes and then gently inserted the glittered candles.  The day of I sprinkled flower confetti on the tables and accented the hurricanes with a cream colored mum.  This really didn't take long at all but what a warm fall glow these gave to the tables!
