Simply from Scratch: Salted Caramel Lattes

Homemade Salted Caramel Mocha Latte from www.thecreativeconfectionista.com
Starbucks Salted Caramel Mocha
You've been dreaming about the day when these return to a Starbucks near you. Yes, friends, it's Salted Caramel Mocha Latte time! But who can afford to splurge on a $4 cup of salty sweet goodness that often? You can thank me later. :)

Homemade Salted Caramel Mocha/ Latte

1 c. milk, steamed (I used 1%)
1 c. strong coffee (I used the concentrated setting on my keurig with a french roast k-cup)
1 T. cocoa powder (optional)
2 T. of sugar
3 T. caramel syrup
Whipped cream
sea salt to taste

In a saucepan, heat up the milk until it is steaming gently then froth the milk with a wire whisk until it is foaming. In a separate container (your coffee cup or large pitcher) blend prepared coffee, cocoa powder, sugar, and caramel syrup until everything is dissolved. Slowly pour the milk foam over the top of the coffee mixture and stir to incorporate. Top with whipped cream, a drizzle of caramel sauce and a pinch for sea salt.

Variation- why not ice it? Prepare the latte as described above then pour over ice in a thermal tumbler. Great for those not so cold fall afternoons.

I can't wait to make this again!!

  1. MMMMmmm, sounds delicious. I would love to try it. I have to watch my salt intake, how does it taste without the salt?

    1. You don't have to add much salt to get the desired outcome... it's really just a light sprinkle on top of the whipped cream. It's still very good without but you miss out on the "salty-sweet" combo a little.
