The Cookie Cutter: Royal Icing Sugar Cookies, Take One

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!  Over the holiday I had a chance to try something new and wanted to share it with you.  So lucky day for you, here is a bonus post this week!

A friend of mine started dabbling in decorated sugar cookies after seeing a lot of fun things posted on Pinterest this year.  I admit, I pinned a lot of the same sugar cookie how-to images but never got around to making them.  Leslie enjoyed it so much (and her cookies were SO ADORABLE!) that she started getting orders and a business was born!  She sells a lot of other handmade items for kids too... check her out at Three Peas and A Dog.

Needless to say, after seeing her cookies I was inspired and decided to decorate some for Christmas using the same Sweet Sugar Belle recipe and instructions.

My cookies were far from perfect considering this was my first attempt, but they were a big hit with our family on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  My cousin told me they looked like they should be in a magazine and my nephew even commented that they were too pretty to eat!  (he managed, of course!)  Many thanks to Leslie for her tech support with some of my issues like drying times and for her many suggestions for next time.  I'll definitely be trying this again!  :)

  1. I remember you posting this on facebook in December. These are super cute and look like they are straight out of a magazine! I don't know where you get all of this creative energy. (please send some my way!)
